Cardiovascular Screenings - May 2, 2016

HaysMed and the DeBakey Heart Institute are partnering with Scott County Hospital to offer vascular screening services. Patients who may be at risk for a heart attack or stroke due to personal/family medical history or lifestyle choices are encouraged to register for one or all of the following vascular screenings:

Stroke Scan - Examines carotid arteries to detect early signs of plaque build-up. Sound waves will listen to the blood flowing by the plaque build-up in the carotid arteries. Cost is $30.00 for the screening.

Aortic Aneurysm Scan - Looks for abdominal aortic aneurysm (a "ballooning" of the artery wall), which may cause the artery to burst. Cost is $30.00 for the screening.

Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) Scan - Symptoms of PAD include cramping, aching, or fatigue in the legs when walking and/or poor healing ulcers on the feet or toes. People who smoke, have hypertension, diabetes, or high cholesterol are also at risk for PAD. PAD is a blockage in the arteries of the leg. Cost is $30.00 for the screening.

A person may receive all three screenings for $75.00.
